Competition Terms (Draft)

Published early so nobody is surprised by the rules later.

1. Status of these terms

These are draft terms published for transparency. No competition round is currently open, no entries are being accepted and no prize is currently offered. Final terms will be published in full, with dates and prize details, before any round opens.

2. Eligibility

Entrants must be at least 18 years old and resident in a jurisdiction where the competition is lawful and where we are able to operate it. Employees, contractors and their immediate families are excluded. Excluded jurisdictions will be listed explicitly in the final terms.

3. No purchase necessary

A free account will always be a valid route to enter. Buying a membership or the eBook will never be required to enter or to win, and will never increase anyone's chance of winning.

4. How entry will work

Entry will be based on demonstrable, self-reported progress logged during the round, plus consistency of engagement. Entrants must confirm that the figures they submit are accurate. We may request reasonable verification before awarding any prize.

5. Judging

Judging will recognise consistency and relative progress rather than the largest amount cleared, so that entrants on lower incomes are not disadvantaged. Judging criteria will be published in the final terms and applied by a named panel.

6. Prizes

Prizes will be stated in the final terms and, where they are monetary, may be paid directly towards a named creditor rather than in cash. Prizes are not transferable. Winners are responsible for any tax due in their jurisdiction.

7. Privacy and publicity

Entrants may use an anonymous display name. We will not publish debt amounts alongside identifying details, and we will never publish anything about an entrant without their written consent. Entry data is processed in line with our privacy policy and deleted when it is no longer needed.

8. Fair play

Fabricated figures, duplicate accounts or attempts to manipulate progress data will disqualify an entry. We may withhold or reallocate a prize where we reasonably believe entry data is inaccurate.

9. Not financial advice or inducement

The competition is not an inducement to borrow, to prioritise the wrong debts or to make payments you cannot afford. Nothing in the competition is personalised financial or debt advice. Priority debts and regulated arrangements should always be dealt with on qualified advice.

10. Changes and contact

We may amend these draft terms at any time before a round opens. Questions can be sent to support@howiclearedmydebts.com.

How I Cleared My Debts provides educational information, organisational tools and estimates. It does not provide personalised financial, legal, tax or regulated debt advice. Results depend on the information you enter and may not reflect lender calculations. If you are struggling with priority bills, legal action or unaffordable repayments, contact a qualified free debt-advice organisation in your country.
